The music that you choose for your wedding will be the underlying foundation of the whole marriage. Everything that occurs during the wedding ceremony and the reception will be centered around the music. It’s very important that you take some time to decide whether you want a DJ or a band to give you the music that is going to be a part of your wedding memories for the rest of your life.

The Best Groove
newly wedMany people like the sound of a live band over the recorded music offered by a DJ. There’s something about having a live band that can never be duplicated by a DJ. When you have the right band your wedding will come alive and everyone will end up having a great time. There will be an electric spark in the atmosphere that will just make everything else come alive as well.

The Cost
Bands are usually a lot more expensive to hire but well worth the cost. If you can’t afford it, however, you can still find a great DJ that can do the job. Don’t take any money away from your wedding budget to get a band and sacrifice the other things that mean a lot to you. Only pull out extra money to hire a live band if you have a bit of extra floating money in your budget to put towards extra costs that arise.

Your Choice of Music
The choice of hiring a band will also depend on finding one that you like. You’ll have to look through the different wedding bands available to find out if there is one out there that can provide the music you like and perform it well. There are some bands that should not be hiring themselves out for weddings and you’ll want to avoid them at all costs.

Get References
Ask for references before hiring a band and make sure that you listen to their music first. If they’re going to be performing anywhere in your local area you should make a point of going to hear their sound first. As a good second best find out if they have any videos or audio files on their website that you can listen to. It’s never a good idea to hire a band without hearing their own unique sound first and seeing if it’s a good fit for your wedding day.

Put Yourself in the Future
One of the best ways to decide whether you should be choosing a DJ or a band is to think in the future. When you’re 50 years old and looking back on your wedding day will it make a difference whether you had a band or not? How will this influence your memories? If you have a bit of fortune-telling ability and can think this way it will make the choice a lot easier. At the end of the day, would you remember everybody having fun at your wedding?
